Children coming to the United States for safety are dying at our southern border while in federal custody, and vulnerable migrants who cross our borders to flee danger are met with appalling conditions while in U.S. custody--all due to the policies of the Trump administration.
The United States has denied migrants and asylum seekers safety. Instead, it has placed them in “detention facilities.” These camps are overcrowded and lack sanitation—people have been forced to stand on toilets and wear soiled clothing for days—and many people are held in custody much longer that the 72-hour limit.
Our nation has a moral and legal responsibility on behalf of those seeking safety. Join us as we urge our elected representatives to maintain our nation’s commitment to international law, and demand that they defend the human rights, safety, and health of those seeking protection at the border, especially the children.
It’s up to us to give them a voice!
